Oncology Pharmacotherapy Specialist

Overview

This position is responsible for providing clinical pharmacy services to patients of all ages in the pharmacist’s area of specialty. This position is also responsible for routinely interacting with physicians and nurses to make recommendations regarding drug therapy for patients.

Responsibilities

  • Performs pharmacotherapeutic monitoring and care for patients in all areas of hospital and clinic
  • Provides general and specific drug information to patients, physicians, nurses and other health care professionals
  • Interacts routinely with physicians, nurses and other health care professionals to provide optimal pharmaceutical care to patients
  • Develops, implements and takes responsibility for educational programming within the pharmacy
  • Supports pharmacy caregivers in providing pharmaceutical care to patients by direct interaction
  • Conducts pharmaceutical related research in area of specialty
  • Leads one or more Process Improvement project(s) leading to better patient outcomes or cost savings
  • Supports the formulary management through drug use evaluations, monograph development and drug therapy guidelines
  • Participates in team projects, research and training activities
  • Implements new and innovative programs to improve patient care services in area of specialty
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Manager, Pharmacotherapy Services or designee

Qualifications

  • Minimum Doctor of Pharmacy degree PLUS at least one (1) year of an ASHP Postgraduate Residency (PGY-1)  is required
  • One (1) year of an ASHP accredited Postgraduate Residency is equivalent to one (1) of year of experience
  • Ability to speak and write in English is required
  • Ability to speak and write in both English and Arabic is preferred
  • Ability to develop ideas and solutions to problems related to both patient care and research
